“Library Treasure Hunt” Children’s day Event

To give our lovely kids a happy and meaningful Children's Day, ECNUAS Library host a special contest for Children's Day on the theme of “Library treasure-hunt”.Take task, searching on the OPAC and looking for books on the bookshelves, in the afternoon of May 28th, a special"Treasure Hunt" game was held at the library. The purpose of this event is to gamify learning and have students practice the skills they have learnt in the library classes.  This game helps students be familiar with the library's collection layout, classification system and equip them with information retrieval skills. This activity lasts for one week and hold in the libraries on two campuses. 

In the primary school campus Library, each class is divided into 5 groups, 6 students in one group. Students use the library OPAC system to find the call number corresponding to the title, and find the book in the bookshelves by the book call number. A group prize was set for this contest. 

The activity was intense and orderly, and the students were familiar with the layout of the library in the form of fun games, cultivated students' information retrieval capabilities and team collaboration capabilities, and standardized readers' behavior in reading civilization. The library hopes touse this as an opportunity to attract more students into the library, make useof the library, fall in love with reading, build a civilized library, and builda good atmosphere for the campus. The team that findall the books in shortest time wins. Students responded to the contest enthusiastically.Several students came to the library early to practice. They are very engaged in the game with full of interest. In the game, students took a call number note and a library treasure hunt map in their hands. They were searching for the “treasure” at the bookshelves very carefully. With their constant effort,they found their "treasure” efficiently.
